Interactive nursery playground

Emily Willets head of pre prep at Ryde school on the Isle of Wight met with us at a conference in March 2023. We were invited to take a look at their brand new nursery setting which had been a private home, due to be transformed into a nursery opening in summer 2023. The tiered garden provided a lovely and interesting setting and we tailored our design to work with the levels in the garden. A flat space at the bottom of the garden was transformed into a large mud kitchen and potion making exploration space, set in a bark pit. Oak sleeper steps embedded into the natural slope of the site provide access to the lower garden with a handrail to help the children. A natural trim trail weaves around the tree encouraging physical movement and coordination skills. A tree seat was built around a well loved tree to provide an area for story telling or resting in the shade. Timing and great communication were key to ensure safe delivery of our equipment to the island and for our installation to meet the summer opening date.
