Sensory pathway

We were first invited to draft some ideas for a sensory trail for Portesbery School in autumn 2020. The schools caters for pupils aged 2 to 19 who have additional sensory impairments, physical difficulties or challenging behaviour. We worked with head teacher Nathan Aspinal and his staff to create a design that would enhance their existing concrete path set amongst trees to offer a sensory experience for the children. Our design featured five beautiful tunnels to be set over the pathway - mirror, rainbow, ocean, leafy and ‘swiss cheese’ along with a wheelchair accessible bridge and hand rail for those needing the extra support. In March 2022 the school had raised the funds and were ready to make the design become a reality! The end result is stunning and has given the school a really special area to enjoy. The sensory pathway with dens has been incredibly well received by the school and the children love their new place space!
